Connecting Airport Extreme and Airport Express using WPS

Posted: September 2nd, 2010    Tags: Apple, wifi

I have an older Airport Express (802.11g, not the new 802.11n one), and a new Airport Extreme (802.11n). I spent a long time trying to figure out how to replicate my previous setup of having the Express extend the wireless network provided by the Extreme using WPS, and I thought I’d post my solution here.

I found the solution after a bunch of Googling: it turns out that the WPS option is hidden in the latest Airport Extreme configuration software. To see it, hold down the option key while selecting the “Wireless Mode” (in the “Wireless” section of the manual setup). Once you choose that, you can set up WDS pretty easily.
